One of the first things you hear people say after the holidays is that they need to lose a few pounds. This is because the holidays are a time where people like to get together to eat and have fun. These gatherings usually involve a lot of sweets and foods that are not good for somebody trying to maintain their weight. - Sugar Cookies: The name says it all. These cookies are packed full of sugar, which is a substances that adds to the inches around your middle.
- Gingerbread: This is a traditional dessert that can be found in many houses around Christmas time. People like to use gingerbread to create houses and other items to include in their festive displays.
- Fruit Cake: This is another traditional Christmas dessert. It is rumored to last for years without going bad, and it is a common gift to receive from others.
- Eggnog: This is a mixture of milk and eggs, and sometimes you can find it in festive flavors. You mostly only see it around the holidays, so it can be considered a holiday dessert.
- Candy Cane: There is lots of candy that is specific to Christmas, but the candy cane is the most traditional. It is basically sugar that has been colored and hardened in the shape of a shepherd crook. It is both symbolic and tasty.
